Supermoon in Green Bay

I’ve always been drawn to shooting lunar events, eclipses, supermoons etc, and this frequently involves late nights and being frustrated by clouds/weather. I recall shooting a lunar eclipse at 2 a.m. in mid-winter… So when I saw that this week’s supermoon, the largest since 1948, would be rising around 5 p.m. on a mild November day there was no question I’d be out shooting it.

On Sunday I started out downtown by the river and Titletown Brewing with its Donald Driver statue, moved to the Brown County Courthouse as the moon rose higher, and readjusted my position for an incoming flight to the airport.

Monday evening I went North of town on the west shore of the bay for the moon rise over the water. Unfortunately clouds obstructed the horizon at moon rise, but about 20 minutes later the moon was visible and while the dramatic shot of the moon peeking over the horizon had passed, the reflection in the bay made from a pretty dramatic photo itself.
